 오로지 기도에 힘쓰니라

사도행전 1:12-14

 

 

1. 함께 모여 기도하는 일

예수님의 마지막 명령대로 제자들은 성령을 받기 위해 함께 한자리에 모였습니다. 성령은 인격을 가진 완전한 하나님이시라 우리가 강제로 받을 수 없습니다. 성령을 받으려면 우리의 죄를 회개하고 또 마음을 열어 성령을 인정하고 모셔들여야 하는데, 이것이 바로 기도입니다. 제자들이 오순절날에 함께 모여 오로지 기도하는 일에 집중하였을 때, 성령은 그 자리에 크게 임하셔서 교회가 탄생하는 놀라운 일이 일어났습니다. 이제부터 우리는 교회에 크신 성령의 역사가 나타나도록 모여 기도하는 일에 더욱 힘써야 합니다. 기도하는 개인과 교회는 반드시 하나님께서 지켜주시고 보호해 주십니다.

 

2. 새로운 제자를 선출함

제자들은 모여 기도한 후에 베드로의 제안으로 가롯유다를 대신할 새로운 사도를 선출합니다. 사도는 예수님을 따르며 직접 가르침을 받은 사람을 의미합니다. 저들은 사도의 조건에 맞는 요셉과 맛디아를 놓고 기도한 후 제비를 뽑아 최종적으로 맛디아를 12번째 사도로 선정하였습니다. 변화받은 베드로의 모습과 기도를 통해 사람을 세우는 과정은 우리가 분명 본 받아야 합니다. 한가지 맛디아에게 아쉬운 점은 이렇게 선출된 후에 하나님께 쓰임받은 기록이 없다는 것입니다. 우리는 세움받은 후에, 더욱 기도하여 하나님께 진정으로 쓰임받는 사람이 되어야 할 것입니다.

1. The Importance of Gathering for Prayer

Following Jesus' final command, the disciples gathered in one place to receive the Holy Spirit. To receive the Holy Spirit, we must first repent of our sins, open our hearts, and desire the presence of the Holy Spirit. This is what prayer is all about. When the disciples earnestly came together to pray on Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended mightily, and it became the birth of the church. Now, it's important for us to come together and pray earnestly, seeking the presence of the Holy Spirit in our churches and personal lives. God will surely guide and protect all those who pray.

 

2. Choosing a New Disciple

After disciples prayed together, they decided to appoint a new apostle in place of Judas Iscariot. An apostle was someone who had directly followed Jesus and received His teachings. They identified two suitable candidates, Joseph and Matthias, who met the requirements to become apostles. After praying and drawing lots, Matthias was ultimately chosen as the twelfth apostle. There's a valuable lesson to be learned here, particularly from Peter's significant role of prayer in making important decisions. One regrettable thing about Matthias is that there is no records of being used by God after his appointment. We must pray even more to become a people truly used by God after we are chosen.
