이스라엘을 향한 아픔과 기도

로마서 9:1-5

 

 

1. 이스라엘을 향한 바울의 아픔

예수님을 전하는 바울에게 가장 큰 아픔은 자신의 민족인 이스라엘이 복음 밖에 있다는 것이었습니다. 이스라엘은 율법을 잘 지키지 않았을 뿐 아니라 예수님을 십자가에 못 박았습니다. 그 결과 나라를 잃고 온 세계에 흩어져 살게 되었으며, 지금까지도 많은 갈등의 중심에 있게 되었습니다.

 

2. 이스라엘의 자만

이스라엘이 이러한 문제에 휩싸인 이유는 저들이 하나님께 택함을 받았다는 자만에 안주하였기 때문입니다. 바울은 하나님이 단지 이스라엘의 유대인이라는 이유만으로 저들을 구원하신 것이 아니라고 지적합니다. 하나님은 이스라엘 중에서도 말씀에 순종하며 하나님을 경외하는 사람들을 특별히 세우시고 사용하셨습니다.

 

3. 이스라엘의 회복을 위한 기도

이처럼 이스라엘이 많은 문제와 갈등 속에 있지만, 바울은 예수님을 비롯하여 우리 신앙의 많은 뿌리가 유대인들에게서 나왔으므로 저들을 위해 기도해야 한다고 말합니다. 성경의 마지막에는 유대인들의 영적 회복이 기록되어 있습니다. 속히 전쟁이 멈추고 이스라엘이 영적으로 회복할 수 있도록 함께 기도해야 할 것입니다.

1. Paul’s Sorrow for Israel

Paul’s greatest sorrow in spreading Jesus was that his own people, the Israelites, were not part of the gospel. Not only did Israel fail to keep the law, but they also crucified Jesus. As a result, they lost their nation, were scattered throughout the world, and remain at the center of many conflicts to this day.

 

2. Israel’s Arrogance

The reason Israel got into these troubles was because they were complacent in believing that they were chosen by God. Paul pointed out that God did not save Israel merely because they were Jewish. Rather, God chose and used those within Israel who obeyed His word and feared Him.

 

3. Prayer for Israel’s Restoration

Despite the struggles and conflicts Israel faces, Paul reminds us that many roots of our faith, including Jesus Christ, came from the Jewish people. The Bible also speaks of Israel’s spiritual restoration in the future. We must continue to pray for an end to conflict and for Israel’s spiritual awakening, as foretold in the Bible.
