 경건한 사람 고넬료

사도행전 10:1-2

 

 

1. 이방인 고넬료

이탈리아 군대장관 고넬료는 이방인이었지만 하나님을 섬기는 신앙을 가진 사람이었습니다. 그는 늘 기도와 구제를 통해 하나님과 이웃을 섬기는 경건한 사람이었습니다. 하나님께서는 이러한 고넬료를 기뻐하시고 기도 중에 베드로를 집으로 청하라는 하나님의 음성을 들려주셨습니다. 우리의 기도와 구제는 반드시 하나님께 상달된다는 것을 기억하고 늘 하나님 기뻐하시는 모습으로 살도록 힘써야 합니다.

 

2. 베드로가 본 환상

고넬료가 성령의 음성을 듣는 동안, 욥바에 있던 베드로에게도 하나님의 음성과 환상이 임하였습니다. 하나님은 환상 중에 베드로에게 먹을 것을 주셨는데, 모두 율법으로 금하여 먹을 수 없는 음식들이었습니다. 베드로는 이 환상을 통해 율법을 뛰어 넘는 예수 그리스도의 참된 복음의 의미를 깨닫고 고넬료의 집으로 가게 됩니다.

 

3. 이방인에게 선포된 복음

베드로는 이방인과 함께 있는 것이 심히 불편하였지만 하나님 말씀을 의지하여 그곳에서 예수 그리스도의 복음을 선포하였습니다. 그런데 그곳에 있는 모든 사람들이 성령을 받고 방언으로 기도하는 일이 일어났습니다. 초대교회의 수장이었던 베드로는 복음의 진정한 의미를 깨닫고 이제 이방인도 구원받을 수 있다는 것을 공식적으로 선포합니다.

 

 

 

Devout Centurion Cornelius

Acts 10:1-2

 

1. Gentile Cornelius

Cornelius, an Italian centurion in the Roman army, was a devout man with a strong faith in God, even though he was a Gentile. He was known for his consistent prayer life and acts of charity, serving God and his neighbors. God was pleased with Cornelius's devotion, and in response to his prayers, He spoke to him through a vision, instructing him to send for Peter. This story reminds us that our prayers and acts of charity are always accepted by God, and we should strive to live in a way that pleases Him.

 

2. The Vision Peter Saw

While Cornelius was hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit, Peter, who was in Joppa, also received a divine message from God. God presented Peter with various foods, some of which were considered unclean and forbidden by the Jewish law. However, in the vision, God told Peter to eat them. Through this, Peter came to understand the true meaning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which transcended the law of Moses. This understanding prompted him to go to Cornelius' house.

 

3. The Gospel Preached to the Gentiles

Peter was initially uncomfortable with the idea of being around Gentiles, but he found strength in God's word and fearlessly delivered the message of Jesus Christ to them. What followed was remarkable: the Holy Spirit descended upon all those present, and they began praying in tonges. Peter, the leader of the early church, came to a profound realization of the true meaning of the Gospel and declared that now even the Gentiles could be saved.
